Last week I caught wind of a special release beer that would be available at the Rhino in Missoula, Montana. It just so happens that this beer combined two of my favorite brands/drinks. It was the Kettlehouse Double Haul IPA that was aged in a Dry Fly Distillery Whiskey Barrel. How could you go wrong with this combination? The answer, you can’t!
On about my fourth stop of the night, we walked into the Rhino and asked for the delicious treat, along with a shot of the Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey for good measure. To start, the Double Haul IPA from Kettlehouse in Missoula is one of my top local beers and I try and enjoy them quite frequently. This version was so delicious it’s hard to explain. It had that distinct Double Haul flavor with a kick of whiskey that made it delightful. I’m not a person that can taste something and know all the ingredients, all I can say is that it was awesome and I would love to have another pint, or two.
If you ever get a chance to enjoy a good brew that was aged in one of your favorite craft distillery whiskey barrels, I’d highly recommend it and you won’t be disappointed.
If you have tried one of these brews, comment below with what you’ve had!
